Welcome to the Ministry to Parents Podcast!

In this episode, Elisabeth and Jeremy Lee give you a behind-the-scenes look into what to expect from the Ministry to Parents podcast. This short, six-minute episode is kind of like the paragraph on the back of a book. We hope that you listen in and decide to go on the journey with us. We think it will make a difference in your life and the lives of the families you serve. For free resources and show notes, visit www.MinistryToParents.com.

Jeremy Lee:
Welcome to the Ministry to Parents podcast. Hey, everybody, I'm Jeremy Lee and I'm the founder and co-owner of M2P.

Elisabeth Lee:
Hey, everybody. I'm Elisabeth Lee and I'm the content director and co-owner of M2P as well.

Jeremy Lee:
We wanted to get started with this whole thing by introducing what our show is about and who we are. For 25 years, Elisabeth and I have worked in church leadership and many different types of churches. And we took time before that to both get our Masters of divinity in theology. And let me tell you what, that was not easy it was a hot mess! It was worth it. Totally worth it.

Elisabeth Lee:
...But definitely hard to both be doing. I think we both worked four jobs at the same time, you know, just a lot going on. Yes.

Elisabeth Lee:
And then add to that that we we've learned a lot about ministry over those years. But then also, we both grew up in ministry and we grew up ministries, faith and minister families. And both our dads are pastors still are. And so we've learned the ins and outs of church leadership. We know the the good that comes from it and the dark side that comes from it. And just personally, we both understand that. But then we also know as we've heard from you guys, that we just know we're not alone in that struggle and we're not alone in the joy of the calling, but also in the hard parts as well.

Jeremy Lee:
And if you're wondering why in the world should I listen to this podcast? It really comes from the heart of ministry to parents, which is what we run. It's been around for 10 years and we've been able to work with thousands of churches. And what that does is it gives us a perspective that we'd like to share with you. We've been able to see your personal struggles, your professional struggles. And we've been able to see your desire and passion to really reach families.

Elisabeth Lee:
So we want to share some of those struggles. We found a pattern of kind of how to set up a ministry to parents in your church. And there's four major places that we're going to live in on this podcast. Yes.

Elisabeth Lee
And the first struggle that we have found among church leaders is the personal side of the job. How do you care for yourself when your job is caring for other people's?

Elisabeth Lee:
So we cover topics that are from physical, emotional, mental, financially, and the spiritual. And we just we help you basically learn how to care for yourself. So on this podcast, think of it like having personal trainers or personal coaches.

Jeremy Lee:
And the second thing we're going to cover is not the sexy part of the job, but it's one that really builds trust with parents. That's the administrative side. We're going going to talk about how to communicate well, how to make sure everybody's safe, how to train volunteers, how to be organized.

Jeremy Lee:
So on our podcast, you're going to learn how to earn trust with parents by having a solid parent ministry plan. You can think of us like ministry consultants.

Elisabeth Lee:
The third theme that we found listening to you is the encouragement side of the job. Children's ministry leaders and youth church leaders, when they go into their job, they go into it because they want to help children and teenagers. But with those kiddos come parents. And sometimes it's kind of like, "I don't know what to do with a parent." Maybe I'm not one or maybe I don't know how to. I don't have teenagers, so I don't know how to talk to them or they're just so busy.

Elisabeth Lee:
So on this podcast, you will be inspired and provided with the tools that you need to support parents. So think about it like you get to become a parent advocate.

Jeremy Lee:
And the last thing is the discipleship side of things. And this is the place where we share that parents are the greatest influence in the life of their kids. But the problem is they're unsure how to actually lead their kids spiritually. So on our podcast, we're going to give you strategies to help parents lead their kids in every area. So think about it like families that get transformed for generations the way God intended. It's a great finish line of this process!

Elisabeth Lee:
It's the point. It's the big picture. We cover these four topics with honest, real, very raw and funny conversations. Every episode we invited guests into the discussion and they give you practical help and insight. Some episodes we cover technology tips. We play fun games with M2P members. And then we just let you hear from other church leaders from around the world who are just like you. So you realize that you have a place where you belong.

Elisabeth Lee:
It's quite a beautiful picture of the church as a whole.

Jeremy Lee:
We have a way for you to ask questions. And we really want this. We want you guys to interact and be a part of the podcast yourself. We don't want to feel like it's just a one sided conversation. So the place to get in touch with us to ask questions is info@ministrytoparents.com. Our episodes drop every Tuesday. We'd love it if you'd subscribe on whatever format you listen to, podcasts on.

Jeremy Lee:
If you don't mind, please invite other church leaders to join in on the conversation with us as well.

Elisabeth Lee:
Yes, we cannot wait to connect with you, but more importantly, our heart is that we can't wait for you to connect with each other to see that you're accepted. Just as you are. No job performance on the line here. You have a place where you belong as a church leader and you're not alone.

Jeremy Lee:
So I guess to kind of wrap this up, we intend this podcast to be a gift of love to church leaders, especially the church leaders who share our passion to see families thrive.

Jeremy Lee:
So if you want to get started, just head on over to episode one and enjoy!
