Thankfully, the new year comes, offering the gift of a slower pace and time to rest. Take the opportunity now to reflect on self-care and to establish a healthier pattern of life before the next hectic season comes.
Embracing the Rhythm of Rest: A Call to Slow Down in Youth Ministry
As leaders, it’s vitally important that we recognize the profound impact of slowing down, not only for our own well-being but also for the spiritual growth and development of the youth we lead.
Teaching Our Kids to Treasure God’s Word
Developing a love for the Bible, words from our Creator Himself, is life-giving. The story never grows old, and the message never fails to change hearts and lives. Learning and growing in His Word alongside our children is a blessing and privilege. We are part of God’s most beautiful design, and the Bible guides us to know Him and love Him more.
Nurturing Faith Through God’s Word
Reading and studying the Bible have been a normal and natural part of our family life, and both of our kids have become comfortable with navigating the Bible and learning from it. This desire to learn more has also led them to engage in Bible studies and small groups that have pushed them in their faith, and we are thankful for that.
Encouraging Children to Connect to God’s Word
What we do for children now helps start them on the path to a personal understanding of their Savior through the message of His Word. It teaches them that they can hear from God when they read the Bible, just like adults can. What an awesome privilege it is to help kids grow to love the Bible and its Author!
Pointing People to the Bible
I don’t know about you, but I can sometimes get a little discouraged in ministry. I’m often not sure how much of what I am doing really resonates with the teens and parents that I have the opportunity to lead. They are so busy running in the rat race of life, and it seems like many of them have a hard time slowing down and really embracing the life that God has for them. They get caught up in the pressures of school and sports, get distracted by technology and social media, and fail to set aside the time and space they need to nurture a faith that will support the struggles of life.
